0870 National Rate Numbers
What is 0870?
0870 is a telephone number prefix that is often used in advertising and for receiving calls to provide customer care. Calls to these numbers are charged at the same rate as other national rate calls and are often included in packages suppied by mobile and fixed line operators
Why should you use an 0870 number?
There are several benefits to using an 0870 number which include:
- The number is "non-geographic" which means that there is no
actual location associated with the number.
- The number to which calls are delivered can be moved from one
location to another without a change in the number that is dialled.
This means that a change in office location does not involve a
change in telephone number.
- It is possible to select your 0870 number which means that you
may be able to choose a number which customers can easily recognise
and remember.
- Details of all calls made to your number are available to you
through your personal log-in at the Customer Service Centre on
our website. Here you will see details of all calls, including
failed calls - with a reason, showing caller's number,
time, date, duration and cost/revenue. This information is updated
every working day and there is no charge for this facility.
How do you obtain an 0870 number and what does it cost?
Numbers are connected FREE. Calls to UK landlines are charged at 2.95 pence per minute. If the monthly bill is less than £5.00 for call charges a £5.00 admin fee will be added to the invoice. Invoices must be paid by Direct Debit. Charges to mobiles and overseas numbers will be more - please contact us for details.
How do 0870 numbers work?
Calls made to 0870 numbers have the destination "translated" in
the telephone network to an ordinary telephone number where the
calls are delivered and answered.
