CPS Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to do to get connected?
Simply sign and return the CPS from Sovereign agreement
and we do the rest. You do not need a smart box or any programming
of switchboards, nor do you need to enter any additional numbers
to use the service. Click here to view a PDF version of the agreement which you can print and send to us in the mail. Click here for a copy of the Terms and Conditions
How does CPS work?
CPS (Carrier Pre-Select) has been introduced to allow real competition
in the provision of outgoing telephone calls. In the past if you
wanted to use another telephone company (or carrier) to provide
your outgoing calls, a 4-digit number had to be inserted in the
front of every call. A smart box would do this automatically or
a switchboard could be programmed to do this, or you could dial
the 4-digit number with each call. CPS eliminates the need for special
4-digit codes. You just pick up the phone and dial normally.
Why choose CPS from Sovereign if there are cheaper services?
Simply, this is about quality of service. Some competitors to BT
use the cheapest possible ways of providing calling facilities.
This can result in poor-quality lines and higher call failure rates.
By using CPS from Sovereign you will benefit from a high-quality
service AND pay less for your phone calls than you would pay BT.
What will happen to my BT telephone bill?
You will still receive a bill from BT but it will only include
your line rental costs and calls to services such as Directory Enquiries
or calls connected by the operator.
What will my telephone bill from CPS from Sovereign look like?
Your bill will be sent to you monthly. It will show a summary of the call costs. You will receive a log in to our website where you can see each call made
and this includes the number you dialled, a description of the destination
(e.g. Manchester), the time and date, the call duration and the
call cost.
How do I pay my bill?
The monthly bill from CPS from Sovereign must be paid by
Direct Debit. This is one of the ways that can reduce the cost of
providing the service. The bill will be sent out at least 14 days
before the balance will be collected from your nominated account.

What do I do if there is a fault on my telephone line?

contact your telephone line provider in the normal way. If the fault
relates to difficulty getting a particular number (always engaged
or no answer when there should be etc) again contact your telephone
line provider in the normal way. If there is a problem with billing,
contact Sovereign during normal working hours.
